Happy Labor Day
Rather than type out a whole bunch of words, I will cede the floor to the Bard of Barking. Continue reading Happy Labor Day

Today’s political news wore me out. That’s happened a lot in 2017, but today miraculously delivered a whole other set of devastating blows. I’ve been struggling through much of the afternoon and evening to figure out which of the frivolous … Continue reading Chin Up, Always Up
I believe tradition holds that I feature a Christmas song in this space today. Usually, this would be presented as downloadable MP3 file, culled from my collection. Truth is, though, I don’t possess any holiday songs that are as cool as the one delivered in this video. Happy holidays, all! Continue reading One for Friday: Sleater-Kinney, “Merry Christmas (I Don’t Want to Fight Tonight)”
This week has been exhausting and exhilarating in equal measure. And I’ve barely progressed into the week as I write this. (Super secret DVD commentary back story: this post was not written on Thursday!) I am still figuring out how to balance my new vocation with the modest and yet relentless demands of Coffee for Two. (Note: I’m aware that the relentless aspect is is entirely self-imposed.) As I continue the extended process of figuring out how to balance all of this, I may cheat a bit. Here’s a cheat, but, I think, a worthwhile one. I want to use my … Continue reading Programming Note
I’ve already punted once this week, but I took time earlier today when I should have been writing and made the video embedded here, so I’m sharing it everywhere I can. The Spider-Man cameo in the Captain America: Civil War trailer is fun. I can admit that. I still maintain my edit makes it even better. Continue reading Does whatever a spider can
Plans for writing tonight were decisively dashed, though for good reason. Thanks to Lloyd Cole and Peter Mulvey for a fine evening. Always nice to discover a new gem during a live show. Regularly scheduled programming returns tomorrow. Continue reading And it was fine while it lasted
This happens on occasion, though quite rarely, I’m pleased to type. I have run out of time to offer a song for sharing along with pithy (or perhaps pitiful) commentary. Back to business next week. In the meantime, I’ll offer up the current favorite of my partner in all things: Continue reading One for Friday: Cheating Off of Someone Else’s Paper
For some indiscernible reason, today’s date is weighing on me a little more heavily than in past years. I think the pervasive attempts to use the ever-distancing tragedy of that 2001 day to prop up political agendas and inspire cheap shots against the other side have simply done me in this year. It’s worth noting that the disheartening spectacle is coming from all parts of the political spectrum, even from those I consider fairly closely aligned with my own views on the issues of the day. With that in mind, I’ll just yield the space to a track from what … Continue reading Clear blue holds its breath

So tired from a hard day of work (and a hard day’s night of play). But at least I suddenly have this. Continue reading Wish I was as cool as Calvin
