Silhouetted by the sea, circled by the circus sands
Some weeks are so, so busy. This is one of them. When my job gets busy, it often gets busy in highly unique ways. As always, any comic book covers that appear here originate from the Website that justifies the … Continue reading Silhouetted by the sea, circled by the circus sands

Let’s get together and talk about the modern age
Noah Baumbach has certainly been going to some dark places with his most recent efforts, at least his most recent directorial efforts. He’s also been collaborating with Wes Anderson, co-writing the screenplays on The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou and … Continue reading Let’s get together and talk about the modern age
Fraker, Hood, Wilder, Yeatman, Zinnemann

Without really knowing it, I was researching, trying to understand the secret life of music that scooted … Continue reading One for Friday: Scruffy the Cat, “My Baby She’s Alright”
Top Fifty Films of the 90s — Number Thirty-Nine
#39 — Barton Fink (Joel Coen (and Ethan Coen), 1991) More than any other filmmakers, the nineties were all about the Coen brothers. At least that’s what it was like for me. There were more influential directors, to be sure, and … Continue reading Top Fifty Films of the 90s — Number Thirty-Nine
Can’t get started, need a little motion
I have rebounded from my annual weekend of research and debauchery a little more quickly than I did in recent years. However, I still sit here a few nights later feeling like I have so many things that I need to regain the mentally energy for, specifically reading and writing. To provide a little extra kick to myself, I’ll pledge that tomorrow I’ll continue with our latest countdown. Because everyone knows that once you roll the preview you have to run the feature.
