I hope that picture was submitted to the Pulitzer committee that year, and at least one of the panelists weighing the choices for Feature Photography was inspired to think “William Snyder’s essay on Romanian orphans has heart, but ‘Cactus Shoved Into Groin’ had a cactus shoved into a groin.” Unlikely, but I can dream.
