I like every but of this meaty, mighty rock song from the Brooklyn-based band THICK, but it’s the perfectly constructed chorus that makes it downright unshakeable: “I could kiss you hard right now/ Close my eyes and open up my mouth/ I could hold you close and tight/ Make you feel safe make you feel alright.” An apparently one-off single released to help drum up interest in some upcoming tour dates, “Doomer” is the kind of song that makes me long to be in a college radio studio playing it at full volume and heaving open the windows to make sure the whole surrounding neighborhood hears it, too.
