This series of posts is dedicated to the many, many six packs, pony kegs and pints that have sauntered into my life at one point or another.
There’s a line in the Too Much Joy song aptly titled “Theme Song” that makes a very relatable promise: “Buy us beers we’re friends for life.” I like to think that buying the beer that’s named after them makes me eligible for a similar eternal kinship.
The band that occupied so much real estate in the terrain of my college radio experience have orchestrated a glorious, unexpected revival in recent years. That act of circling back has included a handful of live shows, and I can now attest that Too Much Joy is as raucous, riveting, and musically tight on stage as ever. They also played at least one venue that had the good sense to create a logical tie-in product for a group that rattles the rafters with the song “King of Beers.” Bravo, Blue Island Beer Co. Bravo.
