Sometimes comedy illuminates hard truths with a pointed urgency that other means can’t quite achieve. Sometimes comedy is just funny. This series of posts is mostly about the former instances, but the latter is valuable, too.

Plain and simple, Taylor Tomlinson is the best stand-up comic working today. Her two Netflix specials released to date are perfection, and having seen her working out the material for her third in a small club in Madison, Wisconsin, I can attest that the new special, scheduled for release in February, keeps pace. In the below routine, her delivery of a straight dude telling his buddies about the girl who makes him “feel genuine feelings” is a masterpiece all on its own.
