This Week’s Model — Glitterer, “Just a Place”

“Just a Place,” the new single from Glitterer, opens with an enticing tuneful cascade of the sort that the Ocean Blue used to dispense like candy from their pockets. As the track moves on, it toughens up just a bit, hitting that sweet spot between power pop and shoegaze where Teenage Fanclub live. Pair that music with lyrics about the mixed emotions stirred by regularly moving from place to place (“I don’t live here anymore/ A part of me will never leave/ I say with two feet out the door/ Now I’m feeling insecure”) and the cut starts to seem like it’s been designed by cunning engineers to hit me in my soft spaces. I guess, in a way, it was.

Rationale, the new album from Glitterer, is scheduled for release in February.
