This Week’s Model — PACKS, “Paige Machine”

There are a lot of complimentary superlatives that can be heaped on the new song from PACKS, the project that serves as the main creative outlet for Toronto-based indie rock whiz Madeline Link. Rather than wind my way to any of those, I’ll simply note that I believe this just might be the best song ever written about the typesetting machine that was invented by James Paige and wiped out Mark Twain’s fortune. To be fair, though, I haven’t scrutinized the entire catalog of John Darnielle. There’s a chance he’s got a qualifying banger floating around.

Taste the Honey, the new album from PACKS, is scheduled for release in January.
