This Week’s Model — VIAL, “falling short”

Sometimes I want a track that absolutely pummels me. Don’t we all?

VIAL, the trio of firebrand cool kids out of Minneapolis, deliver a grand wrecking ball swing of a song with their latest single, “falling short.” Atop a punk rock blast so tight and perfect it could be offered to visiting extra-terrestrials to give them an immediate understanding of the genre, Taylor Kraemer belts out lyrics that are relatable to anyone who’s been in a relationship that grew toxic: “You told me I was special/ And held me to the ground.” When Kraemer hits the chorus, repeated refrains of “Whatever!/ I don’t care anymore!,” it’s catharsis and battle cry all in one.

The new album from VIAL, titled burnout, is scheduled for release in March.
