This Week’s Model — Francis of Delirium, “Give It Back to Me”

Francis of Delirium, the act the serves as a creative outlet for Luxembourg-based singer-songwriter Jana Bahrich, has a way with a washes of indie rock splendor. The new cut “Give It Back to Me” starts small, precise, and spare, Bahrich intoning lyrics that evoke achingly intense emotions: “When your darkness has a sound/ When it fills your ears an now/ All you hear it brings you down/ Give it back to me.” Then the percussion starts to thump like a heartbeat and the music starts to swell. Across the next few minutes, the track grows bigger, fuller, stronger until it feels majestic enough to fill up a whole, bounteous soul. This is what downbeat grandness sounds like.

Lighthouse, the new album from Francis of Delirium, is scheduled for release in March.
