In addition to being the best standup comic working right now, Taylor Tomlinson is also an engaging subject for newspaper and magazine profiles. That’s fortunate, because she’s landing a lot of them. Her ascendency to a late-night gig on broadcast television and the Galentine’s Day arrival of her newest Netflix special. In this piece, Brian Hiatt does an especially nice job of capturing what’s appealing about Tomlinson’s comedy while allowing her personality and predilections to come through. The Trauma of the Trump Years Is Being Rewritten by Charles M. Blow

Writing for The New York Times, Charles M. Blow offers a level-headed assessment of the cultural absent-mindedness regarding the historic mayhem of the lifelong criminal who occupied the White House for four miserable years despite finishing second in the 2016 election. Although Blow spreads his thesis widely enough to loop in other compromised political figures who were viewed more nostalgically after they left office, the real poison in the well is that someone with nearly a hundred indictments against him and a clear act of fomenting is routinely treated as just another colorful character running for office. Unfortunately, the newspaper that gives Blow a regular paycheck is guilty of this very infraction against the public good.
