This Week’s Model — Hot Joy, “Head Out of the Window”

St. Louis band Hot Joy makes a fine, tangy noise on their new single, “Head Out of the Window.” Plying a tried and true brand of indie rock that has some of the chunkiness of vintage Weezer with a touch of endearing Pavement slumpiness, the band sings of existential ennui that is emblematic of a certain American post-collegiate experience: “Wait up I’m feeling something/ It’s not a lot but I’m feeling something.” Basically, this is the kind of song I want to live inside for a while.

Small Favor, the debut EP by Hot Joy, is scheduled for release today.
