This Week’s Model — Amy O, “Superbloom”

A sweet, understated pop song, “Superbloom” shines like the California sun that helped inspire it. Amy O, who’s based out of Bloomington, Indiana, says the song came rushing out of her during a springtime vacation in the Golden State. That spontaneity is clear in the exuberant, evocative details in the lyrics (“Stopped by an estate sale, I got me a pink shirt/ Then we went to Laurel Canyon/ Took a picture at Joni’s mansion”) and the lovely lightness of the melody. The cut is a gentle, grand indie pop charmer.

Mirror, Reflect, the new album from Amy O, is scheduled for release in May.
