This Week’s Model — Guided by Voices, “Caveman Running Naked”

This week, the sun rose every day in the east, Old Faithful spewed water into the air, and Guided by Voices released new music. “Caveman Running Naked,” the venerable band’s new single, is a big, crunching rock song that’s catchy and elusive at the same time. In short, it’s a fairly typical Robert Pollard composition at this point in his ludicrously prolific career. I think he’s the only person who could pull off the couplet “To run, to play/ King Kong for a day” with thumping sincerity.

Strut of Kings, the new album from Guided by Voices, is scheduled for release in June.
