This Week’s Model — Ain’t, “Oar”

It’s about damn time we got a grinding, gnarly indie rock tune that incorporates imagery taken from tales of medieval Wales to accentuate its political points about modern social ineptitude in the face of crisis. “Oar” is the debut single from Ain’t, a five piece based in London that has been building their rep with increasingly high-profile gigs across the city. The cut has some of the wiry fervor of Sonic Youth at their most cool and collected, in those instances with Kim Gordon’s art-scene confidence carried more weight that the boys’ collective desire to make an awful racket. One recording into their career, Ain’t already sounds like a powerhouse.
