This Week’s Model — Charly Bliss, “Calling You Out”

“Calling You Out,” the new single from Charly Bliss, is big, boisterous explosion of juicy, joyful pop music. It’s the sort of hooky dazzler that usually has Carly Rae Jepsen’s signature somewhere on it. The lyrics jab out with spitball fire (“Hard to believe that you need me/ Maybe I’ll force you to leave me/ Promise that love can be easy/ I’m too scared to try”), and the music offer the perfect complement with its gleaming fervor.

The Brooklyn-based band took a long time to follow up their much-adored 2019 sophomore album, Young Enough. It’s hard to complain about al the time that’s passed when they deliver something this arresting and brightly, briskly great.

Forever, the long-awaited new album from Charly Bliss, is scheduled for release in August.
