I’m as prone (more prone, probably) as anyone to angrily rant about the ever-expanding transgressions of the right without taking personal action to counter those transgressions or thinking through and offering solutions. I am grateful to those who take a different approach. Writing for Slate, Molly Coleman and Jenny Hunter respond to the recent onslaught of appalling, precedent-shredding decisions by the Supreme Court of the United States with concrete suggestions on how the corrupted approach of the highest judicial body in the land can be gradually undone.

The Supreme Court’s War on Regulation Is Going to Tank the Economy by Timothy Noah

Among the more infuriating aspects of six Supreme Court justices’ collective junking of any legal guidance that doesn’t suit the toxic agenda of the GOP is their blithe disregard for the real-world consequences of their decisions. The high court’s hobbling of federal administrators will have almost endless ripple effects, especially on the environment, resulting in diminished quality of life for anyone incapable of buying their way out of tainted water and unbreathable air. In this piece, Timothy Noah points out that the equivalent strip-mining on banking regulations is likely to have wide-ranging effects on the U.S. economy, leaving poor people behind, of course.
