We are going into Battle against Trump. Here’s How to Fight for Harris by Kate Manne
I’ve been an overly devoted follower of national politics several decades, and I’ve truly seen nothing like the immediate and overwhelming enthusiasm that has greeted Kamala Harris late-breaking and very welcome emergence as the Democrats’ presidential candidate. The Republicans were apparently entirely unprepared for Biden’s exits and Harris’s quick ascendence, which makes it all the more likely that they’ll default to the sort of vicious, chauvinistic, bigoted arguments that Kate Manne lays out in this piece. Manne’s worthwhile premise is to suggest ways to counter these attacks, but the article is illuminating just for putting all the toxic rhetorical approaches in one place. It’s a colossal failing of society that these regressive attitudes persist and are genuinely part of persuading people to vote in opposition to their best interests. This is published by Manne’s own Substack, More to Hate.

Harris/Abortion 2024 by Jessica Valenti
There’s no question that reproductive rights is the campaign issue where Harris most exceeds Biden in credibility when arguing for the stance that represents the will of Democratic voters. At her vital Substack, Abortion, Every Day, Jessica Valenti details all the specific ways Harris is far better suited to be the party’s standard bearer at this particular point in time. It’s possible there’s never been a major candidate better suited to meet the moment that their opportunity arose.
