With it’s finger-picked guitar work and mellifluously wavering vocals, the new single from Haley Heynderickx evokes the folk-rock wonderments of another age, when the likes of Judy Collins and Joan Baez held dominion over swaying peaceniks in peasant blouses. However, there’s a thrilling tinge of modernity to the track that is as much about sensibility as sound. Heynderickx’s songwriting is crisp and precise, and the lyrical sentiment “We grow tired over the days/ We grow tired over and overthinking” couldn’t be more pertinent to the here and now. In every way, the song is vibrant.
Seed of a Seed, the new album from Heynderickx, is scheduled for release in November.
