It’s been ten years since the last studio album from TV on the Radio, and that’s far too long to go without a fresh does of the group’s thrilling, esoteric, genre-melding music. Although the band recently announced their first live shows in years, there’s little indication that they’ll be recording again at any point soon. At least that void is now being filled by the announced that the band’s frontman, Tunde Adebimpe, has signed with Sub Pop and plans to release his debut solo album.

Details are still sketchy about the full release, but Adebimpe did deliver the lead single this week. “Magnetic” is aptly named. It has the verve and easy yet mind-boggling musical invention of TV on the Radio’s best work. It’s jarring and energizing at the same time.

The debut solo album from Adebimpe is scheduled for release in 2025.
