“2468,” the new single from the Chicago trio Horsegirl, doesn’t have particularly complicated lyrics. Instead, it’s like a schoolyard chant (“2, 4, 6, 8/ They walk in twos”) finessed into as many indie-rock textures as the band could dreams up. The song starts in a mid-tempo, almost folky lilt and then steadily accelerates until it approaches Feelies territory before coming in for a gentle landing. The track is a mesmerizing charmer.
