
There’s a reason Monobloc was recently chosen to open select dates on Interpol’s tour commemorating the anniversary of the album Antics. And that reason is laced all the way through Monobloc’s new single, “Take Me.”
On the track, the New York band place themselves in alignment with the post-punk revivalists of the early years of this sorry century, the very scene that Interpol sprung from. But there’s another layer of controlled intensity to the cut. It’s reminiscent of when Girls Against Boys brought in undercurrents of glammy gloss to their music. It’s rich, riveting, and compact enough to wrap up in under three minutes. “Take Me” is done right.
