Jawdropped is a Los Angeles band that formed within just the past year or so, and they’ve been following the tried-and-true path of building their repertoire — and a following — by playing scruffy little clubs. Even if I didn’t know that, the band’s new single, “Skully,” might have gotten me to correctly guess it was their story. It has the rough energy and fierce focus of a rock band in the earliest stages of their evolution. It’s a little like that might have been created had Eleventh Dream Day and Teenage Fanclub followed their 1991 albums, Lived to Tell and Bandwagonesque, by teaming up for a one-off extravaganza of droning, chiming indie goodness.
Just Fantasy, the debut EP from Jawdropped, is scheduled for release in April.
