This Week’s Model — Glyders, “Stone Shadow”

For a long time, the Chicago-based band Glyder was comprised of guitarist Joshua Condon and bassist Eliza Weber. In the time since the release of the 2023 debut album, Maria’s Hunt, they added drummer Joe Seger to the mix. On the evidence of the new single “Stone Shadow,” they remain a lean, no-nonsense unit. There’s a bluesy churn to the song that nestles up with pleasing discomfort against the defiantly lo-fi, borderline disaffected tone, like a Mark Sandman band that has been blasted with a Mark Lanegan sonic sensibility. It’s the wound and the scab all at once.

Forever, the new album from Glyders, is scheduled for release in November.
