This Week’s Model — Spiritual Cramp, “Automatic”

The San Francisco–based band Spiritual Cramp released their debut LP, a dandy self-titled rock ‘n’ roll romp, in late 2023. A couple years have gone by, so clearly the time is right for some new music. They’ve dropped a couple singles across the past few weeks and now continue to the lead up to a new full-length with “Automatic,” a thumper that recalls the early two-thousands heyday of Interpol and other acts who spruced up post-punk for a new millennium. The lyrics are simple, direct, and even borderline dopey, which is, quite honestly, exactly what this sort of song calls for: “X marks the spot/ Easy money easy target easy mark/ And you’re fresh out of luck.”

Rude, the new album from Spiritual Cramp, is schedule for release in October.
