Outside Reading — Twin Cities Under Siege edition

Dispatch from the occupation by Anonymous

In this article, a resident of Minneapolis writes about the way federal agents, who have been dispatched under fraudulent terms, have terrorized the city. I live about an hour up the interstate in another community being harassed by belligerent bigots dressed up in tough guy costumes. It is vital to share the story of the abominable harm being wrought by this lawless administration against the citizenry they serve. This is published by Don Moynihan in his newsletter, Can We Still Govern?

This is the definition of what Kavanaugh thinks a good stop is. He was detained, based on his accent, and then released after they checked his papers (which presumably Kavanaugh does not carry with him). He was detained in front of his five year old child, who told him "I don't want to lose you."

Weak Violence, Strong Peace: Who We Are in This Crisis by Rebecca Solnit

As the executive branch of the U.S. government engages in atrocious behavior and too many other federal leaders have mustered only weak responses, smaller communities have been beacons. I keep coming back to this observation from Kelly Barnhill: “Trump, Vance, Miller and the rest of those sociopaths thought that we would hate our Somali neighbors as much as they do. Guess what. We don’t. They thought that we would be as offended as they are by hearing Spanish or Hmong. They thought we were as broken as they are. Nope. They’re wrong.” In her survey of the current state of affairs, Rebecca Solnit gets at this inspiring truth.
