I don’t it’s accurate to say that my immediate affection for Esther Rose’s new track, “Good Time,” can be chalked up to the fact that the song was reportedly inspired by a long, misfortune-laden road trip that originated in my home state. Then again, to the degree that great songs carry the spirit of their genesis, the tangential connection to America’s Dairyland probably doesn’t hurt. But I don’t actually think I need backstory to respond to the warm melody, easy rhythm, and mellifluous singing, all further flavored with tinge of twang. A song like this one always goes down easy.
How Many Times, the new album from Rose, is scheduled for release in March.
