I guess it’s official: I’m destined to immediately fall — and fall hard — for new tracks that merge a nineteen-nineties guitar fuzziness with early twenty-first century indie-rock yearning. Waxahatchee is undoubtedly the standard bearer for the sound, but Try the Pie is no slouch. Primary the creative outlet for Bean Tupou, Try the Pie recently emerged with their first music since the 2015 album Domestication, and the latest single, “Last of You,” practically reverberates with the intensity of waiting all that time to unlatch the coiled spring.
A Widening Burst Of Forever, the new album from Try the Pie, is scheduled for release in July.
