If an advertisement is measured by how much it makes a person crave the product peddled, I will testify that this Suntory Whisky commercial is a resounding success. After watching it, I want nothing more than to scat my way through the preparation of a satisfying tumbler of whisky. In fact, I think I’ll do exactly that.

Among the many pleasures of this 1974 Japanese commercial is the associated knowledge that citizens of the island nation who particularly enjoyed it could get a 45 rpm single with the song Sammy Davis Jr. performs in it, titled “Chi-Ki Chi-Ki Sammy,” as well as three of his other hits. The nineteen-seventies were a glorious cultural age.
