“in|FLUX,” the new single from Anna B Savage, begins delicately. The first minute or so is spare and elegant, like Fiona Apple when she’s trying to lure the listener into a false sense of safety. Then the burbling electronic beat slides in, blooming into a lush sonic landscape as Savage intones “I thought I’d made it known/ I want to be alone” in a voice rich and dynamic. It’s a track that is enveloping and hypnotic while still feeling infused with feeling, a wildly marvelous achievement.

The new album from Anna B Savage, also titled in|FLUX, is scheduled for release in February.
