I solicited assistance in selecting the track for this week’s edition of this modest celebration of new music, and of course my partner in all things instinctively advocated for the song that draws inspiration from the Italian horror films of decades past. Nun Gun is a side project put together by Lee Tesche and Ryan Mahanby, members of the Atlanta rock band Algiers. They created music that’s meant to accompany a new book of photographs by visual artist Brad Feuerhelm. The book is summarized as “144-pages of Feuerhelm’s malformed post-industrial gazing photography,” and the cut “Stealth Empire” suitably aligns with that description.
Nun Gun’s full-length album, Mondo Decay, is scheduled for release later this month.
