This Week’s Model — Cable Ties, “Time for You”

With a sound like rolling thunder, the new track by Australian band Cable Ties acknowledges the stress of modern life. But “Time for You” is ultimately about the way a caring, rewarding partner can cut through all the worry and make it feel secondary. When Jenny McKechnie repeatedly insists on the lyrics “I’ve got no time/ But I’ve got time for you,” it’s like a credo of found contentment, delivered with escalating intensity that only makes it sound all the more true. Carrying some vestiges of their punk beginnings, “Time for You” is a deeply satisfying rock cut that is fulfills the promise that music is there to carry us all through the yuck to a better place.

Cales Ties’ new album, All Her Plans, is scheduled for release in June.
