Beers I Have Known — District 1 Brewing Company Pointer: Then and Now

This series of posts is dedicated to the many, many six packs, pony kegs and pints that have sauntered into my life at one point or another.

Thanks to the miracles and the wonder of digital conduits for broadcast technologies, I have a summertime tradition that I like very much. More often than not during the summer months, I spend my Sunday nights grilling dinner (and maybe a few extra treats to help get us through the first few days of the workweek) while listening to Then and Now, a radio show usually guided by a good friend of mine (and that I’m blessed to step in and host every once in a while) at our shared alma mater college radio station.

A craft brewery in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, the college town where that station has its transmitter, recently debuted a new beer dedicated to past and present student who spent time on the campus. In a fortuitous turn, the brewery named the lager Pointer: Then and Now. A few cans made their way into my beer fridge, providing me the perfect libation for my Sunday night tradition. Bring on the summer. I’m ready for it.
