Wishy’ debut full-length, Triple Seven, is one of those albums that doesn’t just have staying power; it sounds better every time I hear it. The Indianapolis-based band has an almost magical skill for taking shopworn styles from the indie side of the pop spectrum and freshening them up enough to make them practically gleam with newness. “Lovesick,” the band’s latest single, is awash in a shoegaze sound that is richly informed by elegant pop. It calls to mind the most enthralling work of the band Lush, but there’s also nothing derivative about it. The track is as pure and moving as the discovery of one’s own feelings. It’s downright dizzying.
Nature’s Pill, the sophomore full-length from Wishy, is scheduled for release in October.
