This Week’s Model — Bodywash, “La Renommée”

Chris Steward, one half of the Montreal-based duo Bodywash, says the sound of the new single “La Renommée” is inspired by EVOL-era Sonic Youth. I can kind of hear it, but that inspiration has definitely been tugged through a fine filter made out of the band’s lovely dream pop. The lyrics draw parallels between a statue atop a Montreal monument and a dedicated worker in the service industry. Rosie Long Decter sings those lines with a quiet power that puts her in a kinship with the Goddess of Fame represented in the statuary. The track has starpower.

Laughing at Noise, the new album from Bodywash, is scheduled for release in November.
